On Eurodam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Noordam, Westerdam, Oosterdam, Prinsendam, Zuiderdam: Every single Stateroom has a cooler (HAL does not like to use the word refrigerator as they don't get as cool as some medicines that require "refrigeration" need... but they will get beverages cold...)
[
On the rest of the HAL fleet (and note the above says NIEUW AMSTERDAM... NOT  Amsterdam ) If it has a verandah, it has a cooler!

The suite itself was lovely, it that quirky Holland America way, with traditional and modern elements combined. We do think the decorator may have been colour blind, but that in no way detracted from our enjoyment. We spent a lot of time in the suite.  Photos February 2011

Here are some photos of PS 7001 on the Volendam. Now these photos were taken in 2005, so the decor may be different, but rooms and layouts are the same. The fabrics and all have changed, but the layout remains the same. These photos include the entry area, the living room, desk, and the cabinet that holds the pull down bed under the TV and the bedroom dressing area. Photos 2005.

The cabin was very spacious with an ample sitting area.  There was plenty of room to store our 3 large suitcases.  I particularly enjoyed the dressing area with three mirrored closets and roomy dressing table.  The whirlpool tub was especially comforting after a cold and rainy day in Skagway.  The bed was very comfortable (better than mine at home!) and the wall of windows provided lots of light and outstanding views.  The balcony had a small table and chairs as well as two loungers.  I was initially concerned about being under the Lido deck and being right next to the stairs/elevators.  Neither of these proved to be a problem.  We were right down the hall from the Neptune Lounge which made its use very convenient.  The perks that come with a Deluxe Veranda Suite make it definitely worth the extra cost.  We were thoroughly spoiled and pampered.

DD 7086 Large Ocean View Stateroom   Deck 7 Navigation Deck

I 7086 one of the "inside/outside" cat I cabins. Classified as an Inside Stateroom but has a Window. (IRL_Joanie's Note: This stateroom was reclassified in 2010 as a DD Large Ocean View Stateroom)

I loved this cabin! The location is stellar -- right by the exterior door to a small deck which spans the width of the ship, and right beside the steps up to the aft lido deck for wide open views. This location was great for Alaska; the captain would call out a nature sighting and we'd be outside in seconds, looking.  We liked this cabin so much that we have both it and its mate booked for next summer in case we decide to do a round trip from Vancouver with my MIL (we're pricing one ways as our preference, but booked these so we'd be sure of having these particular cabins if we wind up doing a round trip for price reasons).

The only real "downsides" -- no bathtub (which is why it's a HAL interior level cabin), one end of the sofa is stuck in a small alcove so really only one end of it is useful (we stored our luggage back there), and there's not a lot of counter space.  We think it's still a great deal and wonderful cabin for 2 people. Photos 2006 & 2008 (This stateroom was reclassified in 2010 as a DD Large Ocean View Stateroom)

Volendam from Rev. Neal's Panama Canal Cruise, November 2007 - Inside (but with a window ... how weird!) aft-facing I-Category 7086, Navigation Deck. The wonderful cabin 7086 ... one of only 2 "inside cabins" with a window ...... located all the way aft on the Verandah Deck. It's shape is very weird. (IRL_Joanie's Note: That is a 2 seat Sofa in that 'cubby'hole/alcove.')(This stateroom was reclassified in 2010 as a DD Large Ocean View Stateroom) Photos November 2007
