On Eurodam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Noordam, Westerdam, Oosterdam, Prinsendam, Zuiderdam: Every single Stateroom has a cooler (HAL does not like to use the word refrigerator as they don't get as cool as some medicines that require "refrigeration" need... but they will get beverages cold...)

On the rest of the HAL fleet (and note the above says NIEUW AMSTERDAM... NOT Amsterdam ) If it has a verandah, it has a cooler!

IRL_Joanie's Note: The standard Verandah/Balcony is 6 feet deep by 9 feet wide. VA aft/stern Verandah/Balcony are deeper (how much depends on which deck, and Vista class versus Signature class). VD are 7.5 feet deep. VF and VE on Vista Class ships, Noordam, Oosterdam, Westerdam and Zuiderdam, Verandah deck are only 4.5 feet deep. As of this time I do not have much information on the Verandah/Balcony sizes of the PS, SA, SB, SC or SY categories Staterooms.

Here is a quick video of our cabin aboard the Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam cruise ship. It is a handicapped cabin and so is a bit larger, has a wonderful, three angled balcony view, and a large, walk-in shower. Video taken February 2011

It's pretty much the same as any other Vista or Signature verandah VA to VC cabin except that it has a 7 foot deep balcony instead of 6 foot. It is located below the Lido cabanas and the aisle in front of them. We did hear some brief lounge-chair dragging noises occasionally, but the only significant noise was for about an hour and a half the night of the chocolate dessert exravaganza by the Lido pool.

The cabin was lovely. This was a fabulous place on the ship to be. We loved this cabin. We also had a bathtub, as well as a shower. Sorry I didn't photograph the bathroom but you know how hard that is to do!

We were 15 days here for a transatlantic crossing from Ft Lauderdale to Barcelona. I can't say enough good things about this ship. All new, clean and tidy. Not a bit of rust anywhere. Windows spotlessly clean for lovely views day and night. Just magical.

The only negative, and this is a small matter for this cabin: In the evenings there was a bit of noise after dinner from the Lido above. When they were cleaning up they moved chairs, and rolled trolleys for a bit, but it soon stopped. We slept like logs. No vibration here, nothing! Photos June 2011
